sacrificeWhen we say we’re followers of Jesus, how much are we willing to give up?
Elisha can be seen as how we’re supposed to be when Jesus calls us.
1 Kings 19:19-21
When Elijah threw his close over Elisha, Elisha only wanted to say goodbye to his father and mother. This shows he had already resigned himself to the thought of not coming back. Not only that. Oxen back then were a sign of wealth, much like a John Deere or a Lexus is today. Elisha slaughtered his yoke of oxen and fed the people before he left. This eliminated any inkling of him returning back to his apparent comfortable lifestyle, he became determined to follow Elijah in the service of The Lord.
