2 Kings 19:14-19 – Hezekiah received the letter from the messengers and read it. Then he went up to the temple of the Lord and spread it out before the Lord. And Hezekiah prayed to the Lord: “Lord, the God of Israel, enthroned between the cherubim, you alone are God over all the kingdoms of the earth. You have made heaven and earth. Give ear, Lord, and hear; open your eyes, Lord, and see; listen to the words Sennacherib has sent to ridicule the living God. “It is true, Lord, that the Assyrian kings have laid waste these nations and their lands. They have thrown their gods into the fire and destroyed them, for they were not gods but only wood and stone, fashioned by human hands. Now, Lord our God, deliver us from his hand, so that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that you alone, Lord, are God.”

crowd audienceThere will be situations in our lives that are overwhelming. Thank God he has allowed this account of King Hezekiah’s prayer to The Lord be an example when it seems all hope is lost.
This account should reassure us that The Lord won’t let those who depend on Him to be embarrassed, for His namesakes.
When it seems we’re in a no-win situation and just when a situation is overpowering us, we must do what Hezekiah did. Lay the problem out to The Lord in prayer. He will answer for His namesakes because we have put all our trust in Him and have faith He will deliver us into victory status, to bring honor and glory to His name.
God is a game changer. Just as every athletic team has it’s go-to-guy in reserve when it looks like a loss is in the making, we can go to Him for a sure win.
Amen
