Another brother is gone because of a senseless shooting that happened last week. That makes three dead, in one incident.
But is there only three dead? What about the parents of these dead men? They are still alive, but a part of them has died too. So is there really just three dead?
What about the children of these three brothers? They are still alive but have to carry around the pain of dealing with the thought their daddy is dead. A death occurred in them. Perhaps love will die, compassion will be buried and hatred sprouts to replace what has died in them.
What about the brothers who will spend the rest of their lives in prison? They too are alive but are they really? No freedom. No peace…dead!
It doesn’t matter what type of life they lived. They are still someone’s son, father, uncle, cousin, homeboy, friend and memory.
