The Lord said, “Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by.” Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper. – 1 Kings 19:11-12
August 19 2015 was a unique day. I got two surprises and one was a prize. I received a certificate of appreciation from my job for being faithful for 10 years (I’m working on a second pension check). That was sort of ironic since I have been filled with the Holy Spirit for 10 years. I never won anything in a contest where I sign up and my name is pulled. Now I can strike one down since I received a cooler, t-shirts, sun visors, drinking cup and a Frisbee™ as the grand prize. Then I was honored at my favorite lunch spot by the employees for being a regular customer (almost everyday). Read more
The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no one who does good.
I’m thinking of all the people who are saying God doesn’t exist. I’m thinking of all the people who live their lives as if there isn’t a God that someday we all must stand before so He can judge us according to our deeds. I’m thinking of all the people who believe in God, but live their lives like He doesn’t exist. Read more
In those days John the Baptist came, preaching in the wilderness of Judea 2 and saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.” – Matthew 3:1-2
From that time on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.” – Matthew 4:17
I had a dream a couple of nights ago. I won’t go into the dream but a voice of a man was weeping with much strength and he said “Tell the people time is running out. Tell them to repent and receive Salvation, quickly.” This dream has been with me ever since. What I remember most is how the man in the dream wept so strongly.
Not only did the dream rekindle the urgency in me to start witnessing more for Jesus, it also started me thinking about some of the messages that are coming from today’s pulpit. I’ve heard messages of sowing a financial seed, our destinies and our breakthroughs. I’ve heard messages that were condemning rather than loving. I’ve heard all kinds of messages, but seldom do I hear sermons that urge us to repent from our sins, urging us to live our lives unto Salvation. Read more
I was making my usual school run this morning. It was real foggy outside and visibility was down to about 100 feet (I think). I got in the left lane because of a slow moving truck and had I stayed in that lane I would’ve missed my turn. I have been making this same turn for a couple of years and I thought how the fog changed the look of a path I’ve been traveling for a couple of years. I looked around and I didn’t see my reference points that let me know my turn was coming. I didn’t see the usual buildings and trees I usually see. Read more
On any given morning, I will pray and ask the Lord to use me to help someone through sharing His word and help them. Yesterday, as almost everyday, He answered the prayer. Why not? That’s what He wants us to do right? But yesterday was unique because I never expected to be able to see how He guided me into position to save a an infant from serious injury. God’s timing is something that is unmatched in this world by scientist and the greatest of project planners!
I had lunch at Chic Fila which is my usual spot to eat lunch in Macon Georgia. I received my food and looked for a place to sit because the place was crowded. I saw a booth which would’ve been ideal because I usually open my I-Pad and read while I’m eating. An employee rushed over to the booth and said she had to clean the water up a customer before me had spilled. I looked around and saw another seat and told her I would sit somewhere else, but that table needed cleaning also. So I decided to wait a few minutes until the booth was ready. There were other seats, but I simply waited, even though I had grown impatient. Read more
Psalms 13:6 (NIV)
6 I will sing the Lord’s praise, for he has been good to me.
I tell you. When I can’t think of anything to say to The Lord, I start singing to Him. I sing about how much I love Him, how much I thank Him and how much I want to do what He has commanded me to do. Usually it’s in the morning when I first wake up, but I’m known to strike out a tune in the middle of the day.
Nearly all of the time, I’ll sing a song that I’ve never heard on the radio, keeping this verse in mind:
Psalms 96:1 (NIV)
1 Sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth.
So I’m going to sing to my Lord. I might not be the best singer, but as long as it’s from my heart, He’ll be pleased with it.
