Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. – Matthew 5:9
I am enjoying writing these posts on the Beatitudes. I don’t profess to be a biblical scholar at all. I’m just a big reader and doer of God’s word and I just get inspired to share the Gospel with others. There is an old song with the words; “I’m just a nobody, trying to tell everybody, about somebody, who can save anybody!”
What is it like to be a child of a Father who created the earth and everything in it? What’s it like to be a child of a Father who owns everything we see, hear, touch, feel and taste? What is it like to be a child of a Father who can hear everything we say, even when we think He doesn’t hear us? What’s it like to be a child of a Father who sacrificed His only begotten Son because He loves us so much? Read more
Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. – 1 John 5:12
On any given day, I’ll read a particular verse that reminds me of the state I used to be in. This verse is no exception. I remember when I thought I had it all in my hand. I had money, a nice car and a nice home. I felt like I didn’t need anyone except the people I had in my circle. I drank liquor, partied, smoked dope, womanized and whatever else I thought I was bad enough to do. Until one day I was spiritually stripped so I could see I was really a dead man, waiting to be buried and later judged to eternal punishment.
Today I am no longer a dead man, but I am dead to the sin I used to love. Now I have the Son, the Son of God, Jesus, who I love now. Today I live!!!
Matthew 16:24. Then Jesus said to his disciples,
Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.
It’s not always easy to sacrifice and give when it takes away from our desires or takes us out of our comfort zone. But it’s all a part of being Christ-like.
The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no one who does good.
I’m thinking of all the people who are saying God doesn’t exist. I’m thinking of all the people who live their lives as if there isn’t a God that someday we all must stand before so He can judge us according to our deeds. I’m thinking of all the people who believe in God, but live their lives like He doesn’t exist. Read more
But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money (covetous), boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good,4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people. – 2 Timothy 3:1-5
The word of God has warned us that in the last days there were going to be perilous or terrible times. Many things that have been spoken of by Jesus and His Apostles are beginning to take place in this time we’re living in. We have earthquakes, wars and a constant threat of a major war. We have the start of pestilence and famine taking place. (Matthew 24 and Luke 21) Read more
This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him – 1 John 4:9
I was sitting here, sort of in a disheveled state. Thinking about how the day has been out of sync. Then I ran across this verse in Bible Gateway’s verse of the day section. Then I started thinking about how blessed we are to have a God so great, who’s love for us is great, to give His Son Jesus who is so great as a sacrifice for us who are not so great.
Now I feel better and everything is back in sync.
Thank You Jehovah!
