There’s physical slavery. And there’s spiritual slavery. If a man tried to make us a slave in a field we would fight them to the end. But we seldom put up a fight when Satan tempts us to become his spiritual slave. We resist the bondage of physical sin, but seem to welcome spiritual sin because the master of deception has deceived us into thinking spiritual sin is pleasant, when really it brings a wage that is eternal death. The United States government could save billions of dollars spent on drug, probation, criminal justice, medical costs and other programs that are in place as a futile attempt to reverse the effects of sin if this verse was taken serious.
2 Chronicles 7:14 – if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
OUR BREAK TIME IS OVER
Every real Christian’s job description can be found in Luke 3:4:
A voice crying in the wilderness, Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for Him!
We got work to do, our break is over!
A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump. And little foxes that spoil the vine. While I drove, I was reminded how the church has let the world creep in and change the face and intent of what real church is supposed to be.
When I got home of course I looked these two verses up and they are in Galatians 5:9 and Song of Solomon 2:15. Leaven is yeast and for those who bake know it doesn’t take much yeast to change the properties of flour. It doesn’t take much sin to change the properties of the church.
Solomon gave us the verse regarding little foxes and this is the revelation from the Lord for today. We can’t be so hung up on maintaining titles, positions, appearance, singing, dancing, feasts, traditions and all the other big things to boost the church and not watch the little foxes (sin) gnaw away at the root (word) until the whole vine (church) is destroyed.
There is too much mixing of Christ’s system (church) with the world system (Satan) and there’s no focus being placed on things like gossip, lying, stealing, sexual immorality, hatred and so forth.
I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you. Psalm 119:11
If it were possible to physically and medically hide something in our heart, it would be close to the seat of our being. It would control everything because it has become our source for living, considering our blood is pumped from here to other parts of our body.
Now. Consider hiding God’s word in our heart. His word will become the seat of our being, controlling everything about us, guiding us toward an eternal life with the one who created us.
