Try Jesus

HeavenlyLight2When Jesus came into this world, there wasn’t too much different back then than what we see today. Back then, there were people living in uncertainty. Today, there are people who don’t know how they will make ends meet and be able to pay their bills.

Back then, there were a lot of sick people who were suffering from diseases they had no cures for. Today we have diseases, and what seems like new diseases popping up every other month.

Back then, there was crime in the streets. Today there is crime everywhere. Parents worried about their children the same as you worry about yours today. Children played in the streets. Some were respectful and some were not. Sometimes food was scarce with the population growing. There were even parents who had children who were acting strange and nothing they did seemed to help.

Then Jesus came on the scene and what did He do? He presented a better way for everyone who listened and wanted what He offered, and was the Kingdom of Heaven. Where ever Jesus went, people were healed. Whenever He spoke, people were delivered out of hopeless situations. Don’t believe me?

Read about the man who’s son was suffering from seizures because he was possessed with demons. The man brought him to Jesus and Jesus spoke to those demons and they left the boy alone. (Matthew 17:14-20)

Read about the man who wandered around in a cemetery cutting himself because he was possessed with many demons. With just His words, Jesus delivered the man by telling what was tormenting him to leave and go into some pigs. Afterwards, the man sat at Jesus’ feet in complete peace and his sanity was restored. (Luke 8:26-29)

Not only did Jesus heal and deliver people, He raised people from the dead and where ever He went He made sure the people who followed Him were taken care of. He fed 5000 people with just two fish and five loaves of bread. Jesus saw to the need of the people like a good servant should. And there will never be a servant like Jesus!

And another good thing about Him is He doesn’t have favorites, He doesn’t have special people. He treats everybody the same. So I am a witness that He is waiting for you to ask Him for help with whatever you bring to Him. Bring Him your children, your problems, your tears, your uncertainties, your doubts, your hangups, your addictions because there isn’t anything too hard for Him that He won’t handle.

I was a poor excuse for a man, a liar, a cheat, a drunkard and I was irresponsible. But Jesus, like He did back then, spoke words to me and touched my heart and I haven’t been the same since. I am a new man and I haven’t looked back since He saved my soul in 2004!

There are children who are being held back by demons much like the child and the man had when Jesus delivered them. Haven’t you’ve been dealing with this problem on your own too long? Accept Jesus into your heart, repent from your sins and allow Him to start doing miracles in your life and your community.

Jesus has brought a group of people together like He did when He called His first disciples. They obeyed His commands and went into the world and lifted the name of Jesus. In doing so, He provided services to help people with what they could see, while He helped people with what they couldn’t see and that’s the soul.

I’m telling you from experience, My Lord Jesus Christ won’t let you down. It’s not my promise, but it is His promise to anyone who wants to give Him a chance.

The Lord Receives Neglected Children

Though my father and mother forsake me, the Lord will receive me ~ Psalm 27:10

smlGirlHandsUpThere are so many neglected children in our society. For whatever reason, parents are abandoning their responsibilities to love and nurture their children to the point of adulthood and taking care of themselves. What happened to the fathers and mothers who neglected themselves so their children would have the things they needed and wanted? What happened to the fathers and mothers who made sure their children knew something about the God who created them? Whatever happened to the father who would be there when their child would wake up in the middle of the night terrified by a bad dream?

If you are or have been a neglected child, don’t worry because the one who created you, our God, will receive you. He cares for you and loves you. All you need to do is know He is there and have faith He will help you. Did you know that you could talk to the Lord just like you talk to your BFF? Yes you can and He listens, and He will give you what you to need to survive. Just like the bible verse says; Though my father and mother forsake me, the Lord will receive you – The Lord receives neglected children.

From Let Us to It’s Finished

John 21:25 – Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written.

askMe02When people die, we reflect back on their lives and look at their accomplishments. When a celebrity dies, some people even wait until the day they return. John records that Jesus did so much that if everything Jesus did were written down, there  wouldn’t be enough room in this world to store all of the books. That’s not hard to conceive when you look at the scripture. Jesus has been around before the words “Let us” were spoken in (Genesis 1:26). So from “Let us” to “It’s Finished” (John 19:30) Jesus performed many miraculous things for us.

A Still Small Voice

Summer1 Kings 19:11-13

11 And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the Lord. And, behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the Lord; but the Lord was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the Lord was not in the earthquake: 12 And after the earthquake a fire; but the Lord was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice. 13 And it was so, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went out, and stood in the entering in of the cave. And, behold, there came a voice unto him, and said, What doest thou here, Elijah?

Many of us want the Lord to speak to us. There are just as many reasons why we won’t be able to hear Him when He does. I was just reminded that God sometimes doesn’t speak to us using something spectacular to get our attention. We make the mistake of waiting on that strong majestic voice that shatters mountains makes our homes shake and winds that knock us down.

No Snitching

I watched a video a friend tagged me in on Facebook. The video had a young man doing poetry and he was good. He recited a piece regarding how the system has reprogrammed our way of thinking. One thing he pointed out was how we as black people get angry when a police officer or someone  white shoots and kills a brother. And he compared that to our people having a no-snitch rule in our communities while all the black-on-black killings are an everyday occurrence. What’s up with that?

Being a retired police officer, once assigned as a detective to investigate violent crimes, I can say what the young man said is true. I have investigated homicides and I talked to people I know saw what happened but didn’t say anything.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know the fear of retaliation is real. But how long will we be held in bondage like a slave was held on a plantation and couldn’t say anything about the abuse and killings they suffered? How long will we live in fear the way your ancestors did because they didn’t know if tonight would be the night they came and took them away, never to be seen again? How long will we watch as our daughters AND sons are being raped by their mamma’s boyfriend? How long will we allow ourselves to be beaten into submission by our own selfishness and greed.

When we remain silent we are participating in the crime. We may as well pull the trigger ourselves. You know you’ve been bound up in your mind so set yourself free from this slavery called silence! Speak up! Speak out! You deserve to live in a safe neighborhood!

Leviticus 5:1 (msg) If you sin by not stepping up and offering yourself as a witness to something you’ve heard or seen in cases of wrongdoing, you’ll be held responsible.

New Youth Section

Elementary school computer classI am glad to post that I will be starting a youth section. What? A youth section? That’s right a youth section. I know, i know. You think because I am past 50 that I can’t relate to what’s important to you? On the contrary. I was born an old man, so that means I had to be your age once upon a time. So I think I can offer some insights to issues that are relevant to you.

I will publish things that I experienced from my youthful days and guess what? There’s nothing new under the sun. So whatever you’re experiencing, chances are I’ve experienced it too. So watch this section for some insightful material.

May God Bless You…
